Weekend Project

A few weeks ago I volunteered myself to bake a cake for a baby shower. I have done this kind of thing before but this time it was different. This cake was for my friends Allison and Krystal. I don't know why but when it came time to actually bake and decorate the cake I realized I was a little nervous. I mean it needs to be a special cake for two special people, right? So, I spent Friday night obsessing over it and I finally got it just right. Then I messed it up getting it into the box.  :( I fixed the drop strings on the sides but they just didn't look as good the second time around. Any way this is how it turned out.

I really need to work on my hand writing ;)

How Great is He?

This weekend flew by. Justin and I had spent all afternoon Friday and all day yesterday doing house stuff. We've shopped around getting estimates on everything from counter-tops to toilets. This is tiring work. I came straight home last night, crashed into bed and fell asleep before the sheets settled. I then woke up several times during the night with a sinus headache. Needless to say, today I've been tired. So after attending Krystal's baby shower I was planning to have a relaxing Sunday .

However I was informed of a birthday dinner for my Granny Brown. It was kind of already planned but I didn't get clued in until Saturday afternoon. Who can miss their grandmother's birthday dinner when she is already expecting you?  So the lazy Sunday plans were scrapped!

Any how, when I got home I was expecting to have to wash clothes and clean house but instead I found that hubby had already done it for me. How great is he? Then when it came time for supper he says to me "you go relax, I'll cook tonight". How sweet!! I didn't let him though. Instead I made his current favorite dinner....grilled hoggies and potatoe ribbons. Simple but affective...lol

Thank God for Justin Bishop!!!!!

WeEkEnD ReCaP

We are recovering from a busy weekend at the Bishop residence. First thing Saturday I hitched a ride to Wetumpka for some girl time. Anna Kate kept us all extremely entertained. It is amazing how watching kids play, run, talk, giggle and cry can keep a gal  mesmerized for hours.

Sunday morning Justin and I taught children's church. I was amazed yet again how good Justin was with the kids and how much they seem to like him.  After church we did some major visiting. We did not return home until around 7:00pm. First we went to see Justin's grandparent's on his mother's side, then we went to his parent's house for a while. We then met with our contractor (again), from there we went to Justin's other grandparents house.

Monday morning I came to terms with the disaster we call our house. I spent all day cleaning. I washed clothes, cleaned the carpets, scrubbed toilets, tubs, sinks, and floors. Oh and I washed my sheets. Before bed I just had to shave my legs. Now that is what you call good sleep........clean sheets and smooth legs. Ahhh that's the life :)

Random House Update

We FINALLY received the permit from our perk test. We've decided on the person who will push our driveway, (and what a long driveway it will be), clear and level our land as well as dig our basement. Now before he begins, we will apply for a construction loan (cross your fingers) and hopefully have a pulp wooder set up and take the trees. We figure we won't get much from them but every dollar counts right? Trouble is, its only three acers and it is really hard to find someone to come out for this amount. So if you know a guy, we take suggestions. :)

I realized the other day I have showed you the "rough draft" of the floor plans but no exterior pictures.

We hope it will look similar to this......

Our contractor will have to do some "edits" to the plans but he assures us it will at least resemble this one. Of coarse their are lots of options......

Ours will probably look completely different than any of these. Justin is in charge of the siding and etc. He seems to be leaning towards vinyl siding on the main part, stacked rock on the gables and shaker siding in the eves. We've heard all these great things about concrete board but the thought of re-painting every five to ten years is horrifying to us.

I LOVE the stacked rock but depending on the budget it may end up being brick, we'll see. Oh and you can take away all of the fancy landscaping (that will come later). Also we will be trashing all of the half moon windows. Have you priced those lately? Wow, who needs em?

ReSoLuTiOn TiMe!!!!!!!

It is officially the "New Year". In other words its RESOLUTION TIME. I have been told in order to accomplish your goals it is suggested to make one simple resolution. However being my indecisive self I can't decide which goal should be my one resolution. I have a long laundry list of possible choices ( in no particular order)......

1) Weight what I weighed BEFORE the holidays!!! I started a diet back in June to help lower my cholesterol. A perk of this was that I had lost almost 10 pounds. Well the other day I heard on the radio one typical Christmas/Thanksgiving meal equals to at least one pound. Considering I ate five of these meals in  one 24 hour period, I'd say that's about right.

2) Lower my cholesterol. You had to see this one coming.

3) To get our house built without developing stomach ulcers. I am such a worry wart. I hate I am this way but I will need a whole lot more than a resolution to fix this problem.

4) To stay ahead of my laundry.  I despise doing the laundry. Now, I am a far cry from a procrastinator but I will avoid this chore like the plague. Therefore as you can imagine I have a tendency to let it pile up.

5) To relinquish control. I am such a control freak. I had come to terms with this but now I have begun to ask my self  "How can God be in control if you won't let go of the wheel?" (profound...I know)

Ahhh.... There are so many choices. These haven't even tipped the scales but I don't want to overwhelm anyone. lol
