"Wait upon the Lord, be of good courage, He will strengthen your heart, Wait I say upon the Lord" Psalms 27:14Brandi Bishophttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07961633792494979087noreply@blogger.comBlogger124125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3784523925704825325.post-85994545336351770722013-08-13T12:56:00.000-05:002013-08-13T12:56:00.495-05:00Christmas is Almost Four Months Away.....Really?As you all know I have to plan everything. I am not a last minute person. In fact these type people drive me INSANE!!!!! Jonell has always waited to the last possible night to do her taxes before the dead line hits every year. God love her it drives me nuts. I don't know why. They aren't my taxes, what do I care? I don't know I just do. I started doing them for her just to put my mind at rest. Weird I know. But she has her refund now a days before she would have even filed them before. That makes me happy! Again don't know why, not my taxes, not my refund but it just does.

Anyway, back to the point. I always create a Christmas budget several months ahead of time and start tucking cash away. This way when the time comes, Christmas is paid for. Yesterday it hits me Christmas is almost 4 months away and this year we have a youngin. So I decided ok budget time. But y'all what do you get a 10 month old that isn't a complete waste of money???? Me and Santa need to figure this one out. Any suggestions?
Back during the first of summer Madilyn and I tagged along for a work trop Justin went on to St. Simon's Island in Georgia.

Madilyn was only 3.5 or 4 months at the time and had never been on a log car ride. Well as you can imagine I was a little nervous since we picked a doosie to start her out on. On a good day St. Simon's Island is about a six and a half hour haul. Add an infant who needs to eat every three hours into the mix and it turns into more of a 8 hour drive.

We woke up around 6:30 on a Sunday morning, packed a few last minute things, fixed Madilyn's bottle, fed her, changed her and were on out way around 7:30. Madilyn slept all the way to Douglasville GA where we decided to stop and eat. Of coarse when we finished it was time for baby girl to eat. We were back on the road for what we thought would be a three hour haul until Madilyn was ready to eat again.

We thought wrong. As we neared Atlanta Madilyn started to turn 10 shades of red due to the surprise she was cooking up for me in her diaper. I knew we needed to start looking for an exit and a good place to pull over to change her. Well when her surprise began oozing out of the legs of her onesie and overflowing in her car seat I knew we needed to find an exit and ANYWHERE to pull over. As you would have it that meant pulling over in the worst possible neighborhood of Atlanta. We pulled into a gas station that had bars on the doors and windows. I was afraid to actually step foot in that place so we changed Madilyn in the car. We used an entire box of wipes!!!! I mean girl had poo, on her, on me, on her daddy, all in her car seat, poo was everywhere!!!

As we vigorously wiped down every service in our back seat we noticed an old black man pulling some hand trucks loaded down with Miller and Coors light. He pulled his beer filled hand tucks out of the parking lot, across the street and out of sight. Odd....... but we just kept on wiping and cleaning. Soon we noticed the old man coming back with his empty hand trucks. Huh....... we began to get the situation under control. As we began to get Madilyn's clothes back on and the dirty wipes thrown away we noticed the man coming back out of the store. This time his hand trucks were loaded down with Colt 45! Once again he pulled his loot out of the parking lot, across the street and out of sight. Y'all I don't know where he was going but let me tell ya he was going to have some fun when he got there....ha!

7 hours later and another poo accident later we found ourselves on St. Simons Island. We didn't get to visit the beach much since Justin was at work every day but we did get to go for about a hour one day....

It was extremely hot that day so Madilyn wasn't really digging the beach so we went back to the condo. But I loved staying in with her everyday for a week. It reminded me of my maternity leave days.....ahhhh. Those were the days :)

We went to Navarre Beach Florida this year for the fourth. I was so excited to be headed back to the beach. Although I knew it would be a whole new world with a little one in tow. It was a whole new experience alright but not because of Madilyn. It rained pretty much the. entire. time. we were there!!! I am used to pop up showers at the beach but not a complete 29 mile/hour blowing wind and rain wash out. We did manage to take advantage of the beach our first day there.

It had started to look scary so we headed back to get ready for dinner. As you would have guessed as soon as we started getting ready for dinner the sky cleared. So we decided to take some pics while we had break in the weather. Still no sun but no rain at the time either....

I had our outfits all planed out. I was going to wear a navy blue shirt and my white shorts. Justin was going to wear the shirt you see pictured and blue jean shorts and Madilyn was going to wear the jumper she has on in these pics. However my little spitter ate just a little too much and covered my shirt, shorts and her daddy's shorts with spit up!!!! so we had to change but her outfit remained fresh and clean..... go figure :)
Isn't she gorgeous????

The next two days were nothing but rain and scary high winds. (Scary because high winds and a camper are not the best combo). However they did shoot the fireworks anyway. I was super surprised they went on with the show but glad they did. Madilyn loved the bright lights in the sky (even if we had to watch them from the camper window because the cold wind was just too much for her).

Our last day there we decided to drive into Destin, which is about a 20 minutes from Navarre.Well, not that day!!! Due to the rain coupled with it being a holiday weekend we fought crazy traffic for about 2 hours, gave up and turned our selves around! Luckily when we got back to the camper it had FINALLY stopped raining and the wind had died down some. So we were able to walk on the beach....

Our baby girl loves this sling!! She loves to be carried faced out. I remember before Madilyn I would think women who wore thier baby looked ridiculous and now I am one of them. But hey whatever works right?

After our walk we were able to snap some more pics of our precious girl
Madilyn I don't have your exact stats but I have an estimate. At five months you are around 11.5 or 12 pounds and about 25 inches tall. You started eating cereal two times a day at a little over 4 months old and loved it!!!

Then you tried solid foods one week shy of five months. You loved carrots!
I kept trying to get you to eat them thinking that after a while you would grow to like them but no you just started to cry every time they touched your lips!!! I even tried mixing them with carrots, your fav and you didn't have that either!
Mommy has been making all of your food so far

As I mentioned before you rolled over a few times at 3 and a half months (from front to back) but stopped and refused to do it again. But at 5 months you picked it back up and I got it on video... yippee
We have not actually been for Madilyn's 4 month checkup. We were supposed to go this past Thursday but just like last month baby girl got sick. So we didn't get shots but we did get stats......

Madilyn at 4 Months you are a whopping 9lbs 14oz and 24 inches long. Which is not to shabby considering that is 1 pound 5 oz and a 2 inch gain from last month.(teeny tinny girl)

You are finally out of newborn clothes and are in 3 month or 0-3 month clothes :).

You eat a complicated 4 ounce bottle every 3 hours.....complicated because its like mixing a stiff drink, 3 ounces of breast milk, one ounce of formula and 1 table spoon of cereal, followed by some gas drops or gripe water because whew baby you have gas problems :).

You sleep through the night but you have been doing this since you were about a month old (I know I know I am blessed). You have rolled over from belly to back 3 times and refuse to do it again. You love to be held up like a big girl and do not appreciate being held like a "baby" unless you are sleepy, hungry or generally don't feel good.

Y'all last week was notably the worst week of my life..... no doubt. To fill you in I have to start back a week or two......

May 8th I started back to work (huge sigh and eye rolling inserted here). Madilyn did great!!! Both Wednesday and Thursday that week she was a different baby. Less clingy, happy, she even began liking hanging out with her daddy. However I noticed she had a runny nose when I picked her up that day. No biggy I just kept the Selene and the snot sucker close by. However that night she began coughing which concerned me. I decided to call the doctor that Friday since the weekend was approaching and I didn't want to have to take her to the weekend facilities.

Madilyn's pediatrician was out of the office until today actually :). So I had to visit another pediatrician in our area. Anyway he gave her antibiotics and wanted her back the following Tuesday for a check up. That Saturday after getting the antibiotics girl was a brand new baby!!!! Happy Happy Happy.

Tuesday we went for her check up and she was clear as far as what ailed her the previous Friday. However the pediatrician that was not our own ordered an upper GI to confirm our pediatrician's hunch that Madilyn had acid reflux. (She was already on Zantac for it, I think this guy wanted to take her off). Anyhow we went the next day for the GI. The radiologist simply said "no reflux" and walked out.

Ok now fast forward to the worst day of my life!!!! The following Monday May 20th, I get a phone call from the pediatrician that ordered the GI. They said that Madilyn had a "malrotation of her lower bowel" and it could be potentially serious. Well of coarse the first thing I do is google it. I know know I shouldn't have but I was confused and just wanted to know what we were dealing with. It isn't the worst thing your child can be diagnosed with but would most likely require surgery and there is a small risk of fatality. Any risk is too much risk and this momma cried all day and all night!!!

They scheduled us for an appointment in Birmingham with a pediatric gastroenterologist the next morning (Tuesday morning) at 9:30. To make a long story a little less long, I will skip some details and say the specialist sent us to have another upper GI and lower bowel follow through done at children's hospital. After being there a good three hours they said Madilyn did not have the Malrotation but indeed have acid reflux. We were sent home with all new meds (which have now given me a whole new set of worries)......

I was so relieved to find out it wasn't as bad as we had thought. However my relief was short lived. Thursday evening I receive a phone call that my maternal grandmother had passed away. She was found in her house by my Aunt. They suspect she had a heart attack sometime that morning. So needless to say our weekend was filled with funeral homes, tears and funeral services.

On top of all this Madilyn's new meds appear to be making things worse. I am now confused and at a loss. I am her mother I am supposed to be able to fix it but I feel like I am just making things worse. Pray for me folks because I am on the edge of insanity.....
I cannot believe girl is 3 Months old!!! At 3 months Madilyn weighs 8.96 pounds and is 22 inches long. Yes I know, I know, girl is little!!! It actually concerned me a little, well alot more than it used to now that a doctor seemed concerned last week. Not our doctor but another doctor we had to visit because was out for the majority of the month.

Madilyn is eating/drinking 4 ounces about every three hours. We have now been adding one ounce of formula to 3 ounces breast milk in an attempt to fatten this girl up. This is what the Doc we visited last week advised. I complied against my better judgement. The thought of baby girl not thriving scares me more than not exclusively breast feeding. However, I have told myself when she catches up and begins eating some cereal and other solids I will pull her off the formula.... we shall see.

Well Hello!!!!! Long time no see, I come to you from my desk at work (on my lunch break that is ;) ). I cannot believe my 11 week maternity leave is over. How did that fly by so fast? I am actually doing really good being at work today but I must admit the thought of continuing to come work and leave baby girl at home every day makes me super sad :(. I wish it was a couple of days a week sort of thing. I am just praying hubby works some kind of miracle and brings in the doe so I can sit my hind end at the house :)

P.S
This entry will be picture free but I do intend to post some pics and things I missed during my leave from the blogosphere.

Until Next Time
So we did that and I created these puppies at www.shutterfly.com.
I ordered a 140 of these babies and they are almost gone already!!!! I take this as a blessing. We are so blessed to have so many individuals in our lives that thought of us and our baby girl.

I am posting them here because we have had so many people comment about them and want to see them. We are almost out of them and gifts from our dear friends continue to flow in. I do not plan to reorder after they are gone (we will use back up notes at that point). So I thought I would post them so everyone could see. Also to once again say thanks to everyone who has thought of us. We are blessed beyond measure!!!! Thanks to our dear friends and family!!!!!!!!
We have been blessed to have had four wonderful baby showers (only two of which I remembered to bring my camera for) We are so thankful for the friends and family who love us enough to help us give our sweet baby the best start possible!!!

Shower number one was thrown by my coworkers and friends. They decided to keep it light and fun for the men who were invited ;). So we ate at Fugi's with our friends and coworkers and were showered with gifts there. We had a blast and Justin was extremely grateful he did not have to attend a stuffy old baby shower :). As you might have guessed this is one of the showers I left my camera at home for :(. It was before this shower I decided to make all the hostess gifts. I wanted them to have a more personal touch. For this shower I made the initial door wreaths I posted about here.....

Our Second shower was thrown by our besties. I have known these girls since high school and I am blessed to have them in my life!!!!
Y'all I completely forgot to post after my 32 week appointment. So I will try to summarize it a bit before I get to the 34 week update....

At our 32 week appointment we got our final sonogram.....ah bitter sweet. I cannot believe that was the last time I'll ever get to see our sweet baby's face on that screen. On the flip side of that coin, I can't believe the next time we see her it will be as she makes her entrance into our lives!!!! Yay!

Any how they told us Madilyn weighed in at 3lbs 10ozs at the time (slightly below average for 32 weeks). Our doctor estimated her to weigh between 7 and 7.5lbs when she makes her big debut (assuming she comes right on time).

The sonogram tech brought our attention to "all that hair" she has. So I guess there could be a little something to the old wives tale. You know the one about if you have heartburn your baby will have hair. I expect her to have hair as long as cousin it considering even the air I breath gives me heartburn ;). Also the sonogram tech says to us when we walk in the door "Oh, let me just tell you....since your 4d sonogram I haven't seen another baby as beautiful as yours." Now I am fully aware she probably says this to everyone but I choose to pretend my baby is the most beautiful baby that ever blessed that doctor's office with her presents :)

On to the 34 week update....

It is that time of year again......the time of year when everyone begins to ask what I want for Christmas. This year that question is particularly hard since I can't ask for my favorite things.....shoes and clothes. I mean it is kind of hard to ask for that when I am HUGE and even my pinky toes are swollen and puffy. Also I am beginning to wonder if I will ever be the same. There is no way this can go back to what it was with out a small miracle. However there are a few things I would like to have even though I know they are out of any one's price range.....(A girl can dream)

A robotic vacuum.....

I haven't really decided on which one of these suckers I want. I just know that I want it to be programed to vacuum up all of the dog hair, dust and little tid bits Madilyn might be tempted to stick in her mouth while I am away at work so it would be one less thing I would have to worry about when I get home.

A cricut.... (and all the must have gadgets to go with)

There have been several instances in all of these crafts I have found to do when I have thought to myself "If had a cricut this would be easier".

A sewing/monogramming machine....

Not that this is the model I want or anything. I haven't even researched these puppies because I know it is a dream for me to go out and purchase one, find somewhere to put it then find the time to use it but still a girl can dream

Also my Dad got us a Cannon Rebel T2i back when he found out we would be having a baby. However I have yet to buy a case or a larger capacity SD card for it. So I would like that plus I am thinking I would love to have the Photoshop software. However I didn't realize there were that many versions of the software out there so I am stumped as to which one I would need/get.

I guess the last thing would be jewelry. Now when I say jewelry I don't mean the expensive kind I mean like the long necklaces and stuff..I guess you would call it costume jewelry?

Other than that y'all I am stumped. Unless you count a rain check to when I am skinny again (that is if I am ever skinny again)

Until Next Time....

Well we finally got to go to our 4d sonogram today. However the machine was broken so they were unable to burn copies of the CDs/DVDs. They did let us take a peek at her and they printed some pictures but it wasn't for the full hour session and the pics were not so great to me. The up side was we didn't have to pay!!!! So we got to peek at her for free;). They said we could come back when the machine is fixed next week so we may do that. We will see.....
I was 20 weeks along Friday September 28, 2012 and Monday October 1, 2012 we had our 20 week sonogram. Finally!!!! I have been waiting for that appointment for a while, for several reasons.

One reason is because this is the more in depth sonogram where they look at her for certain defects like, clef lip, bone, heart, lung and brain problems. They measure the amniotic fluid to verify it has the proper volume. They check the blood flow in and out of the umbilical cord. (The sonogram lady looked at so much I can't remember half of the things she said she was doing).

The second reason is I have been waiting for this appointment before I proceeded with anything else, like ordering the bedding, starting nursery crafts, painting the nursery and announcing her name. (we decided on it about a week or two ago).

So without further ado........

And just because I want you to see her kick her feet....

So that's it! Did you see it??? It came by faster than I wanted but her name is Madilyn Dawn. (Note it is NOT Maddie). Oh and wasn't she nice to have waved at us in the sonogram ;)

We decided to announce the baby name to the Grandmothers (Mom and Jo) via flowers.....

Jonell's flowers she received at her office

The cards read "Just beacuse I love my Grandma/Granna" Love Madilyn Dawn Bishop.

Well that is supposed to be what they said. The florist that delivered Mom's accidently left the "n" of Madilyn's name so it just read "Madily". Mom was like "how do you pronounce it, Mad-i-lee)"?. I was a bit irritated with the florist but what are ya going to do? It is the thought that counts.
Last week I went for my 18 week appointment, and yes I am just now posting about it.

Baby Girl is about the length of a bell pepper

How Far Along: 18 weeks
Weight Gain: 13 lbs
(I feel like such a fatty but Dr. says this is perfect. I am just thinking I have a long way to go and not many pounds left in my goal)
Maternity Clothes: Yes I have given in. I can still wear my regular cloths with the bella band but why would I do that? I mean have you priced a pair of maternity dress pants? I am going to get my money's worth...;)
Stretch Marks: Not yet but I am
still lathering up with Mother's Friend

Morning
Sickness: It's easing up but I still have to eat breakfast as soon as my feet hit the floor to keep from being sick.

Sleep: Still having to pee once a night and I am sleeping with tons of pillows behind my head to help combat sinus drainage.
Baby
Movement: Yes. However it's not as often as I would have thought. I am not sure if she is just really laid back or if I can only feel her at certain times/positions, etc.
Food Cravings: Salty and unhealthy. I have always despised McDonald's McNuggets and have never ate them. However I am finding myself craving them....weird.
What I Miss: My relatively flat waistline, being able to move at the pace I used to and not feeling uncomfortable when I bend over.

Looking
Forward To: Deciding on her name, painting her nursery, ordering her bedding and getting to all of those crafts on my list.....oh so many crafts.

Milestones: Baby girl's uterus, fallopian tubes and other girlie parts are formed and in place. When we go for our 20 week sonogram we should really be able to verify she is still a she :)

As I mention I had my 18 week appointment last week. I knew they said they would run some tests but I was not prepared when they asked me if I wanted to test the baby for chromosomal abnormalities. Justin and I thought this test was performed via amniocentesis. We decided we would defiantly not have this done due to the slight risks to the baby. However this was a blood test so I wasn't sure if this was the same test. I decided to let them take my blood.

Turns out it kind of was the same test (all you moms probably know this). They draw blood and test for certain chromosomes (downs syndrome, etc.) If it comes back positive they would send me to UAB in Birmingham to have in depth testing done. This is where the amniocentesis would come in.

If the results did come back positive (note false positives are possible), I would not have had the follow up amniocentesis done. In my mind what was the point? I mean if it came back positive and I didn't get the follow up testing then all that will have done is make me worry the rest of my pregnancy. (I am a worrier) So having thought about that I called the Dr. and asked her not to send the blood sample to be tested.

There are ALOT of things out there that can not be tested for to worry about so what's adding one more thing to the unknown. God will take care of us no matter what.

To each their own but that was my thinking on the subject anyhow. I just pray daily everything turns out to be okay.

Until Next time....
The final results of the gender poll showed 55% in favor of girl. If you were part of the majority congratulations you were right! We are having a GIRL!!!!! I must say I didn't realize how much I thought it was a boy until it wasn't. I totally had to switch gears but once the initial shock went away the excitement began to kick in.

Our doctor's appointment was at 9:00am we got to see our sweet girl about 5 or 10 minutes later. She was shy at first she would hold her hands over her eyes to hide her face...soooo cute!!!!

We planned to have a gender reveal party to tell the family the gender Friday night. After our appointment we went and made copies of the sonogram. We made 5 copies, one for the parents and each set of grandparents. We had 15 pink balloons filled and placed them in the nursery. We taped the sonogram pics to the strings and locked the nursery door.

We decided to have a scavenger hunt leading everyone to the nursery for the reveal. Here are the clues I came up with......

1) The answer you should find, only if you're able is under the kitchen _______. (this led the family to the table were the next clue was taped underneath.

2) Little boys will spray their clothes when they use the water _______. (this led to the water hose located in the garage)

3) Girls will get some lovin' when there's something cooking in the ______. (this clue led to the oven)

4) Boys don't squat they use the _______. (this one led to the "pot"/ toilet)

5) A girl will always laugh when she's in the bubble______. (this one led to the bathtub)

6) In the living space little boys will set fire to something in the_______. (this one led to the fireplace)

7) Boys and girls alike love play with a balloon, here's a key to the baby's ______. (this one led to the family to take the key and unlock the baby's room filled with pink balloons with sonogram pics that read "It's a girl".

Saturday Justin, Momma, JoNell and I went to Birmingham to do a little shopping. Mom surprised me with a few dresses she saved from when I was a baby. JoNell started from scratch by buying baby girl some new ones. Justin and I ordered her furniture...
I am thinking we will paint 3 walls a khakish-pewter color and maybe paint the wall behind the crib a shade of yellow. Although this makes me nervous because yellow is just a hard color to get just right so we will see.
Although that is very important, I am referring to what you think we are having. Do you think baby bishop is a boy or a girl????

I keep hearing from different people "it's a girl," "no it's boy". Also since, I don't have a strong gut feeling one way or another and Justin keeps saying "I don't call the game, I just play it" (whatever that means) I thought it would be fun to take a quick poll.

If ya look at the menu on the right side of this blog, under my profile you will see a poll. Just for kicks and giggles, click what you think it will be. Should be fun!!!!Brandi Bishophttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07961633792494979087noreply@blogger.com0
